992. Life is Precious.

We don’t need a near death experience, loss of a loved one, or a complete financial meltdown to appreciate that life is precious.

All we need to do is take a step back from all the noise and over stimulation in the world and get back to the basics of living to realize how precious life is.

The act of breathing alone is something we take for granted. When we consciously focus on breathing, we get a glimpse of how great it feels to be alive.

Try this simple breathing exercise:

  • Take a deep breath.
  • Feel the air fill your lungs.
  • Exhale to let it all out slowly.
  • Let go of all your thoughts and emotions
  • Repeat until you feel something good inside.

Bringing awareness to the little things that life’s has to offer (like breathing) is the key to appreciating life fully.

If you do the above exercise correctly you’ll notice a sense of calm, stillness, and euphoria take over every cell in your body. The more present you are, the better you feel.

If we can get good at this, we may be able to experience life to its fullest all day long (without the need for external stimulants like caffeine, drugs, and alcohol).

It’s hard to imagine a life that doesn’t need some sort of external stimulant to feel good. It’s such a rare and foreign concept in our society today.

Eckhart Tolle emphasizes that bringing awareness into our lives the awakening of human consciousness” is the next step in human evolution.

The air that we breathe, the people we share the planet with, everything around us is precious. It won’t take a major disaster to help me realize this.
