982. Creativity and Cleanliness

Cleaning Buddha - Art by Rodney Alan Greenblat

I had a rush of creativity while cleaning the kitchen today.

Who would have thought that something as simple as cleaning for 30 minutes in the morning, would give me such an instant rush of creativity and inspiration?

Perhaps it’s in our DNA to work hard and get stuff done. Maybe we thrive on action and service-when the focus is on improving our surroundings.

Is it possible that a task as simple as cleaning around the house could be a form of mediation or spiritual practice?

Spiritualists say we have a subconscious mind that is dormant most of our lives. Completely asleep. This part of the mind is what allows creativity and innovation to flow through us with ease.

It’s said that the average person may be able to unlock up to 7% of their subconscious mind power in his or her lifetime. It’s a small amount, but is worth tapping into for any  creative human being.

So the real question is, how do we tap into this subconscious mind to get more creative and innovative?

The answer is simple, like any muscle, there are MANY ways you can exercise it.

  • Stop Thinking (meditate)
  • Move (workout)
  • Eat (clean and  healthy)
  • Learn (something new)
  • Give (more than you get)
  • Let Go (of everything you know)

The subconscious mind is a muscle. Use it, or lose it.

Cleaning is a simple way to naturally activate the subconscious mind. Cleaning builds confidence, and certitude. You are in complete control of your actions, and you can see immediate results. This is powerful!

Clean something with an open mind for 30 minutes today. Get lost in the moment. Remove all the clutter in a specific area to start (like the kitchen) and keep removing stuff until there is nothing more to remove.

Get in the habit of letting stuff go, and pay attention to the details.

Remember: How you do anything, is how you do everything.

When you finish, take notice to how great you feel. Maybe take a tally of all the creative thoughts that passed you through you while you cleaned away.
